Firstly we have to have an email account created on our web space and know the user-name and password to access the account. If you haven't yet created an email account then follow the tutorial here first.
Ok lets get started.
Start by clicking the Tools link here. Then click E-mail Accounts.
The Email Accounts window appears.
Click here to add a new email account. Then click Next.
Choose POP3 or IMAP here. POP3 will ensure your messages are fully downloaded to your computer. IMAP will sync your mails. If you wish to check your email on multiple computers or devices, IMAP is the preferred option. Then click Next.
Here you will enter your email account and server settings.
Your Name: Enter the Name as you would like it to appear in the From field of outgoing emails.
E-mail Address: Enter your new email address here.
Password:Then enter your email password here.
Incoming mail server(POP3):Now enter your Incoming (POP3/IMAP)
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): server settings in these boxes. This is usually mail.yourdomain.com for both, where yourdomain.com is your own domain name.
Click the More Settings button.
Then click the Outgoing Server tab.
Check the box for SMTP Authentication. Most SMTP servers use the same username and password as the incoming (POP3) servers, so just leave this selected, then click OK.
SMTP authentication means that Outlook will login to your mail server even when sending emails (not just receiving), ensuring that you are the only one that can send emails from your account.
Click Finish to complete the wizard.
That's it! We've successfully setup an email account, and can now start sending and receiving emails to and from that account, from Outlook 2003.
If required you can repeat the process to set up as many email accounts as you need.
You now know how to setup an email account in Outlook 2003. Remember that you also have to create that email address in your hosting account before it will work.
