Now let's learn how to setup that new email account in Outlook 2007, so you'll be able to send and receive emails to and from that new email account.
Start by clicking the Tools link here. Then click Account Settings.
The Email Accounts window appears. Click the New button here.
The next popup window will ask to choose the service you require.
Select the POP3 service then click "Next"
Your Name: Enter the Name as you would like it to appear in the From field of outgoing emails.
Email Address: Then enter your new email address here.
Password: Enter your Email Password here.
Retype Password: Then Retype your password.
Check here to manually configure your server settings. Click Next.
Ensure the "Internet Email" option is selected.
Then click Next again.
The next screen will have your name and email already populated, we just have to fill in the Server Information
Choose POP3 or IMAP here. POP3 will ensure your messages are fully downloaded to your computer. IMAP will sync your mails. If you wish to check your email on multiple computers or devices, IMAP is the preferred option.
Now enter your Incoming (POP3) and Outgoing (SMTP) server settings in these boxes. (these are usually mail.yourdomain.com)
Enter the username as provided to you by your hosting provider..... this is typically your email address.
Then enter your email password here.
Tick "Remember password"
Click the More Settings tab.
Then click the Outgoing Server tab.
Check the box for SMTP Authentication. Most SMTP servers use the same username and password as the incoming (POP3) servers, so just leave this selected, then click OK.
SMTP authentication means that Outlook will login to your mail server even when sending emails (not just receiving), ensuring that you are the only one that can send emails from your account.
Next Click on the "Advanced" tab.
These are the port settings for your email connection to the server.
Check your details when you set up your email account in cPanel it will give you the port numbers to use if they are different to the default change them here.
If your happy with the setting click "OK" to close the popup screen.
If you click on the "Test Account Settings" button Outlook will try sending a test email to your new account.
If it succeeds then your email is configured correctly.
If it fails click the back button and check all the details are correct that you have entered and try again.
When everythings ok just click "Next"
Then click Finish.
That's it! We've successfully setup an email account, and can now start sending and receiving emails to and from that account, from Outlook 2007.
Remember that you also have to create that email address in your hosting account before it will work.
