In this tutorial, we'll show you the different options for the Log-in Module.
The Log In Module
Not all Joomla websites need to have registered users, or even the log in module enabled.
Depending how your website will interact with visitors will determine what role the log in module will play, if any at all.
By default when you install joomla, the log in modules is created for you with the ability to create an account.
Global Configuration View
To disable user registration we need to go to the Global Configuration screen.
You can go to the top menu System >> Global Configuration or dashboard submenu on the left side menu Global Configuration links to access the config screen.
User Manager Link
Now on the left side menu scroll down until you see the User Manager link.
Click on the link.
Now your taken to the User Manager settings in the first tab "Component".
The first setting you will see is the "Allow User Registration" button.
All you have to do is set this to "NO". Then click the Save button at the top left of your screen.
Front End Log in Form View
Now go back to your web page and refresh the browser.
You will see the "Create Account" details have disappeared so visitors will not be able to create an account on your website.
This is a handy solution if you only want certain users to log into your website. By invitation only etc..
Deleting the Module
If you don't need the module and want to either disable it or delete it altogether.
Go to the Module Manager and look for the "Login Form" Module.
At the side of the module title you will see a check-box and a Status Arrow.
To just disable the module just click on the Status Arrow to switch it off.
To delete the module entirely click the check-box and then the Trash button at the top of the module screen.
